A former policeman, Andy Wray, does not recognise his own wife and daughter if he is parted from them for more than 48 hours after suffering severe trauma brought on by the stress of his job.
Mr Wray, 32, had a mental breakdown two years after leaving the force when he became affected by the memories of terrible car crashes and suicides he had witnessed.
Mr Wray, now a supermarket worker from Colchester, Essex, set off to hospital feeling ill, and when he arrived he had forgotten his wife Jo, his baby daughter Chloe, and his whole life.
Now, nearly three years later, he still cannot recognise Mrs Wray, 34, or Chloe, three, if they leave him for longer than 48 hours.
