Part of the legitimate concern revolving around the year 2012 stems from the fact that the Maya were unquestionably gifted mathematicians and astronomers. They measured the length of the solar year far more accurately than did the Europeans in their Gregorian calendar, and precisely oriented their sacred buildings and cities with stars and star clusters, particularly Pleiades and the Orion Nebula associated throughout the ancient Middle East with Osiris/Apollo/Nimrod. The pre-Columbian book, Codex Dresdensis (a.k.a. the Dresden Codex) by the Yucatecan Maya is famous for its first-known related illustrations of advanced calculations and astronomical phenomena. But how the pre-telescopic Maya were uniquely aware of such important knowledge is unclear. They themselves—like other archaic cultures did—credited ancient "gods" with bringing the heavenly information to earth.
In 2008, fellow researcher David Flynn may have uncovered important information related to this legend, the size and scope of which simply surpass comprehension. It involves mammoth traces of intelligence carved in stone and covering hundreds of square miles, possibly the strongest evidence ever detected of prehistoric engineering by those who were known and feared throughout the ancient world as gods—the giant offspring of the Watchers.

Moonshine turns Mayan horse race in Guatemala rowdy
Despite a drinking ban mayhem erupted at a traditional Mayan horse race on Sunday with riders falling off their horses and drunken spectators stumbling through the mountain village.
Hundreds of tourists and locals gathered for the annual spectacle in Todo Santos Cuchumatan on Sunday to cheer the dozens of riders charging back and forth along a 330-foot (100-meter) length of road for up to seven hours.
But the macho test of stamina was marred, as it has been in the past, by the copious amount of homemade spirits the riders consume, sometimes for days before the race.

Exclusive: Scots metal detector man finds 2000-year-old lost treasure trove worth £1m
A MAN with a metal detector has found ancient treasure worth more than £1million.
The amateur enthusiast discovered four Iron Age gold neckbands in a field. He now stands to net a fortune.
The exact location of the field is being kept a secret to prevent a "gold rush". But the Record can reveal the gold was found in a field near Stirling.
The "torc" necklaces are like those worn by queen Boudicca 2000 years ago. Three are said to be in "perfect condition".
A torc found in England in 2005 sold last year for £350,000.
And experts believe each of the necklaces found in Scotland could be worth the same.

Red Phone: UFOs in South Valley?
"I was just wondering if anyone had reported sightings of what looked like comets falling or 'space' debris falling through the atmosphere on Oct. 26 from around noon to 3 p.m. over the Morgan Hill, San Martin, Gilroy or Salinas areas? I was driving to my dad's house in San Juan Bautista from San Jose and saw about six different images of what looked like the tails of a comet at different times and areas around highway 101. They were pretty interesting. It was nothing like the condensation trail/streams a jet makes either.
Planes are not supposed to appear to be falling out of the sky if I remember correctly. Besides I also saw planes that day too with their "cloudy" trails and their tail trails last longer in the sky. And you can SEE the plane in front of the white trail, even ones that don't last as long. That day was warm and had clear skies until later in the afternoon.

I saw UFO beam up a buffalo
STUNNED Derek Bridges has revealed how he shot extraordinary footage which UFO experts say shows aliens beaming a BUFFALO into their spaceship.
Pensioner Derek filmed the eerie scene from his window after spotting pulsating glowing orbs hovering over a neighbouring farm late at night.
The two bright lights hover high over fields, while an animal appears to dangle below before vanishing into them.
A high-pitched screeching noise can be heard before the UFOs finally disappear into the night.
Grandfather Derek, 69, said: "I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm convinced it is the real thing."
He told how he spotted the bizarre lights over a neighbouring farm as he looked out of his window while getting ready for bed at his house near Basingstoke, Hampshire.

50 Cent believes aliens exist.
The 'Candy Shop' rapper is a massive fan of fantasy novels and is certain there are other life forms which are deliberately kept hidden from the public.
He said: "I read a lot of science fiction because I just want to get away from what's going on at the time, I read fantasy books.
"Like things about different planets and other worlds. It's interesting how often they've made films with aliens in them and it has to come from somewhere.
